There are moments you probably never forget. And for me, one of them was October 4, 2025. My first match as a Real Madrid Graduate Student where I officially attended as a journalist with a media accreditation, right in the middle of the action. It was also my very first time at the Bernabéu, which made the entire experience even more surreal. The moment I entered the press area, it really hit me where I actually was. The Bernabéu is already impressive on its own, but experiencing it from this perspective was something completely different. You experience matchday in a much more intense way, becuase suddenly you are no longer just a spectator, but you become part of the media environment surrounding the game.
Real Madrid secured a 3-1 victory against Villarreal. After a relatively balanced first half, Madrid gradually took control of the match during the second half.
Vinícius Jr. was one of the standout players of the night, scoring twice. Kylian Mbappé later added the third goal for Real Madrid, putting the game beyond doubt. Villarreal managed to score in between, but after Santiago Mouriño received a red card, it became even more difficult for the visitors to get back into the game.
One of the most exciting experiences of the evening was definitely the press conference after the game. For me, this was one of the moments where I truly understood why I find this field so fascinating. Because football is not only about what happens on the pitch, but also about communication, analysis, storytelling and capturing special moments.
A few years ago, I would never have imagined sitting in the press area at a Real Madrid match. And that is exactly why this evening felt so special.
